Erasmus + projects encourage young people and youth workers to learn and grow personally and professionally. Because of its emphasis on international mobility, the projects seem to have a large carbon footprint. All partners of this project are long-term Erasmus + participants. For many years, we have observed our organizations, as well as the many other organizations and their enthusiastic young people, traveling for youth exchanges, training, and other international projects. Most of the time, the trip includes air travel (CO2 emissions) massive amounts of plastic bags used in packaging, unused food, plastic bottles, and quite other products that generate a huge amount of waste.
Aim of the project:
- Calculator for the carbon footprint of Erasmus + mobility activities.
- Library Online classroom with useful reading materials (including podcasts, videos, articles, and manuals)
- ‘Tips and tricks’ for developing more sustainable youth activities and youth organizations. Greendex also promises to plan a pilot project for the Erasmus forest. This forest(s) will compensate for our inability to change our current behavior patterns.
Partners from Cyprus, Slovenia, Portugal, and the Netherlands met on the 20-26/06/2022 at Pliskovica, Slovenia for a preliminary working week for the KA2 project ‘Greendex’. A carbon footprint calculator and content for our website are beginning to be developed. Stay tuned for some astonishing suggestions for carbon footprint compensation for international youth activities.
