For the past 6 months, I was volunteering with the ESC in Nicosia, Cyprus. I supported various projects and thus was able to get insight into very different areas and tasks. My main project was supporting the Gardens of the Future Downton, a once abandoned ground turned into a green community garden in the middle of Nicosia. I also spent a lot of my time at the youth Orchestra Sistema Cyprus, playing the violin together with the kids at rehearsals and supporting the concerts. Furthermore, I participated in the Waste Free Saturdays from ZFW Cyprus organisation where we collected, sorted and distributed the leftover fruit from the ‘oxi market’ to people in need. At Generation for Change, we packed donations for migrants.
All in all, I feel very happy that I had the chance to have so many new experiences here in Cyprus and am grateful for the people I have met through being here.
