Location
Seulo is a picturesque village in Sardinia, Italy, known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, nestled in the rugged mountainous region of Barbagia. It’s one of the five blue zones worldwide, with a record number of centenarians. In fact, lots of specialists, scientist and researchers visited the place in the last 10 years. They wanted to discover the “the secret of long life”. There are several versions exposed to the large public, but the most common keyword is “slow”.
With a long history and deep connection to traditional Sardinian life, like many rural areas in Sardinia, Seulo has seen a sharp decline in population over the years. The younger generations, seeking better employment opportunities, higher education, and modern amenities, have been migrating to larger cities or even abroad. This exodus has left the village with an aging population, with few young families remaining to sustain the local economy and traditions. This demographic crisis is part of a broader trend affecting many rural parts of Italy, where the lack of job prospects and essential services is driving people away.
