8-14 July 2019
Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia
Training Course
Between the 8th and the 14th of July, a group of 3 cypriots, Constantinos, Stelios and Erasmia, were in Banská Štiavnica, a touristic village in Slovakia. Along with other young Europeans from 8 different countries, we participated in a training course related to Social Entrepreneurship in rural areas.
One of our favourite activities was getting to know the area that we were living in. We had a treasure hunt during which we could communicate with locals about different facts and visit several places to learn about the history, the traditions and the life of the region. It was very interesting to do so in teams with other participants, making the activity a team-building one!
The highlight of the project was when we developed our own entrepreneurial ideas for making business in a rural area in the form of a product or a service. In order to do this, we learnt about what is needed to create a new company, which steps we would follow and which skills we would need. Through this activity, we also understood the importance of a local company for the residents and the economy.
Banská Štiavnica was the perfect location for this project. On one hand, we could meet local entrepreneurs and participate in events. On the other hand, we could explore the natural beauty of this crater with its hills, its lakes and its forest.
We are really grateful for this opportunity and for what we gained. We learned new things but we also made new friends, probably the most important part!
